About this trip

Mo'orea is a South Pacific island, part of French Polynesia's Society Islands archipelago. Mo'orea meaning yellow lizard, lizard (Mo'o), and yellow (rea), is just a 30-minute ferry ride from Tahiti, it is known for its jagged volcanic mountains and crystal clear lagoon.

From August to October humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to French Polynesia to breed and give birth. French Polynesia is one of the few places in the world where you can swim with humpback whales. In order to respect the whales, we observe them from the boat and determine the whales’ activity phases (such as socializing, resting, or moving), before entering the water. Whale watching is still a regulated activity as these islands are classified as wildlife sanctuaries.

Experience

  • You will be spending 5 days on the water observing humpback whales with the potential to experience pelagic encounters with pilot whales, rough-toothed dolphins, spinner dolphins, oceanic white-tip sharks, and any other marine life we encounter. *Interactions are not guaranteed
  • Enjoy the crystal clear lagoon as we anchor at the sandbar to swim with the stingrays and black-tip reef sharks.

It was my second year on this trip and it was PERFECT once again! Not only will you be in a magical place with the possibility to see the most incredible wildlife, but you will also have the BEST time and so much fun with the "staff" (😉 haha) Kelsey and Katy (Latitude Encounters) make sure vibes are high effortlessly - you will laugh a lot with these two - so even days were you are unlucky with the ocean, you will have a great time no matter what☺️ food is also great and snack/drink selection is amazing!! Everything you could crave, they have it! And both the Captains (and their boats) I've had on my trips - and everyone else I met from Latitude -were amazing too! They also have great respect for wildlife (which unfortunately is not the case for every company..), you get good briefings for every species before entering the water & learn so much while enjoying all the beautiful creatures the Sea of Cortez has to offer. 💙✨️ 1000% recommend!

This is the fourth trip I’ve taken with Kelsey, and somehow, they just keep getting better. Kelsey is not only an incredible photographer and guide - she’s an all-around amazing human. She puts so much thought and care into every detail, especially when it comes to the companies she partners with. From working with guides who live and breathe conservation (shoutout to Katy!) to collaborating with organizations that give back to local communities, her trips are meaningful on every level. If you're on the fence about booking one of Kelsey’s adventures, take the leap. You won’t regret it.

Absolutely amazing experience with amazing people. Beyond all expectations what a life-changing experience. Accommodations, the staff and the restaurants — incredible. Kelsey and Katy are the real deal. Extremely knowledgeable, very passionate and made the five day expedition a once in a lifetime experience.

Absolutely magical! Kelsey hosts the most memorable trips and Baja was no exception. Every morning we set out just to find whatever encounters the ocean would treat us to and it exceeded expectations, from the chillest group of mobulas to dolphins, blue whales, pufferfish to orcas! (But the puffers really made for a fun morning and I think we all left with a newfound love for our pokey friends) Thank you to our incredible Captain Cano, our expert guide Katy (and her endless entertainment), our house papi Carlos, and the best trip host of all time, Kelsey! This epic team made respecting the animals the priority while still allowing us the rare opportunity to join them in the blue. Same time next year for a double memorial and every year after! <3

Thank you so much Molly for your kind words and also your great energy on the trip! Can't believe we've already had two epic and fun trips together and hope there will be more sooner rather than later! The puffers will be waiting for you in 2026...
